Ruthenium surfaces offer a wide range of benefits. As a platinum metal, ruthenium is outstandingly robust and resistant to corrosion and acid. It’s even proven itself resistant to aqua regia for an incomparably long time. This electrolytically deposited metal is very hard (> 800 HV) and possesses high electrical conductivity – even in the case of oxide film development. The structural grid of ruthenium layers is hexagonal in form, thereby showing absolutely no cold-welding behavior.
Ruthenium is extremely temperature resistant, and, thanks to its excellent tribological properties, very long-lived and hard-wearing. Ruthenium plating is smooth, polished and very hard, yet through additives can be deposited in a very dark way, too (L-value 53-59).
